How does AI reshape the knowledge production? Studying the full sample research proposals submitted to a major funding agency, we document a reallocation of resources from operations toward human capital. We also find AI-enabled projects are associated with modest improvements in scientific outcomes, involve larger teams, and undertake a broader set of tasks.
